AI as a Digital Ally: Revolutionizing Marketing

2023 was the year AI made its debut and as we are settling into the great shift it has made in our lives its advantages have become quite clear for me. I run a small digital marketing agency - Big Water Ci. I entered this occupation through digital media and then expanded into marketing. It was a steep learning curve in which my visually driven brain had to learn how to write - coherently. It’s a wonderland collecting images but I quickly found out that what makes perfect sense to my personal experience does not translate well to the general public and that communication needs structure and message to be able to reach more than my fellow clones. I took writing workshops, and story-building programs, I hired editors, and collaborated with writers but again hit a wall. 

The added steps required time and in social marketing time is a constant variable. The ability to quickly research the web, sort through all the data, and bring it together in a storyline proved to be a daunting task that I took on every week for the past two and a half years writing these articles. Enter AI. It does not write for me but what it does do is research, organize, and add perspective. The trick is learning how to prompt.


Three tips for the best usage of AI


1. Integrate AI for Enhanced Customer Insights

  • Use AI to Analyze Data: Employ AI algorithms to sift through vast amounts of customer data, from social media interactions to website visits, to gain deeper insights into customer behaviors and preferences. This allows for more targeted marketing campaigns. 

  • Tip: Each of my clients has a customer workup. I ask AI to hold information. In the workup, I describe the business, and give examples of clientele, limiting factors, their goals, current offers, and what sets them apart. Each prompt is over two thousand words. Recently I began building personas. 

 2. Automate Ad Campaigns Using AI

  • Optimize Ad Spend: Use AI to automate and optimize your ad placements and bidding strategies. AI algorithms can analyze performance data in real time to adjust bids and placements for the best possible outcomes.

  • Tip: Start with a small budget to train the AI systems on your specific objectives and audiences before scaling up your ad spend based on the AI’s learning and performance. This I have been doing for over a year now and my Meta numbers are incredibly good. I no longer try to control my ad placements or audience I let Meta’s AI take the wheel and it has proved far better at the task. Since they can no longer share the data with us, if you give Meta the correct prompt Meta’s AI will use their data far better than I ever could have.

3. Predictive Analytics for Forecasting Trends

  • Forecast Marketing Trends: Apply predictive analytics to forecast future market trends, customer behaviors, and potential sales volumes. This can help in planning more effective marketing strategies and inventory management.

  • Tip: Regularly update your data inputs to keep the AI’s predictions as accurate as possible and use these insights for strategic planning sessions. I’m having a heyday with building personas right now, a task that I used to dread because I knew that my own perspective got in the way.  Thinking outside of my own box consumes far too much of my energy and resources. 

AI is not to be feared. I have used the simile as it’s my washing machine. I will not go back to pounding my clothes with a rock at the riverside. It is a tool, no more no less, if you add bleach to your load of jeans you will get rags, and learning how to properly use the tool is a timesaver with good results. Throwing it all in one load and your results could vary drastically it is always best to read the label.
