Video Posting - WQuantity or Quantity

I spend my Sat. mornings listening and watching my usual marketing gurus. I start with Simon Sinek or TedX for my peace of mind and inspiration. Followed by Gary Vee for “just do it” motivation and big-picture platform guidance. I rounded out my morning with Social Media Examiner’s weekly podcast and a few other industry experts. This week on SME was a good one. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the sheer volume of videos the guest Austin Falter of Falter.Media was talking about. He has a program to get 1M views in 90 days. How? Post a short video 3 times a day for 90 days. Mind Blown!!! I’m a person whose personal record was editing 35 videos in an 18-hour day with a weekly record of 85 uploaded and posted.

180 videos in 90 days! Yikes! I am so curious about what he charges for this. If you book a consult with him please let me know in a DM.


This brings up the question, REALLY? How many?


I'll break it down


The Falter media approach of three video posts a day is purely to drive likes, follows, and a possible viral hit. Notice how I did not say $1M in sales. This approach is purely for gain in the algorithm. I’m not saying that it will not raise your sales it could.

Which brings up the question. What are your goals? Yes, everyone wants more money but the path differs for everyone and the challenge is finding the right path for you and your business.

Five or more years ago you could have increased your social platform presence 10X with just photo posts three times a day. Now with video taking over the streams, it has replaced the static post as top dog. Video is not going anywhere but up so now is the time to jump in. There is still plenty of room to grow but the door is closing and the feeds are getting noisy.

What do I watch for? Competition. TikTok over the past three years was the aggressor of the big three pack, (Meta, YouTube, and TikTok), and getting traction took a lot of content but you could also rise quickly in the algorithm. Lately, YouTube Shorts is the choice, they are pushing hard to gain back their big dog standing and for BtoB LinkedIn has upped their game. My biggest reason for not going to TikTok three years ago and taking my clients with me? The business end of TikTok was not developed and my client's needs were not in gaining influencer traction but in brand recognition, online presence, bookings, and ticket sales. Most of which were best served by the infrastructure of Meta.

Last week my GoTo Simon Sinek made a very good point. In business does it serve you to work for the algorithm? This means an influencer's main marker is its rise in likes, views, and followers, (the algorithm) not necessarily increased sales. Now there is a lot of power in any platform with 10K or more followers. It is an industry milestone, but at what cost? I’m guessing, and I’m really guessing that the cost for the 180 video packager is close to $100K. If you have a company with money to burn then by all means go after it. You can monetize your followers later. It’s a matter of ROI. The journey it took for me to become a YouTube partner with Big Water Event Media in 2014 was epic, with 3,500 posted videos and counting. I monetized them, but still, it was a break-even deal. I just loved the journey with my kids and it will always remind me of the power of conviction and intent. I still get a couple of thousand views each month during the FWT competition cycle. The beauty of YouTube has always been its evergreen quality.

So here we are again,

My best advice is as usual “Ask yourself what do you want to say and who do you want to say it to”. Then get your business goals lined up and begin the process of determining on what platform your people live on and build a strategy to reach them, talk to them, and connect. Remember everything has a cost, just because you are not paying for views does not mean the cost of 180 (or 3500) video posts is free.
